What If Referrals Felt Effortless? Designing for Speed, Trust & Growth

problem space

This project explores the design of a user-centered referral system that enables school administrators to easily invite other schools, track referral progress, and earn rewards. The goal was to transform informal word-of-mouth into a structured, transparent, and engaging experience that drives consistent growth.

Project overview

“What if referrals felt effortless to share, transparent to track, and rewarding enough to repeat?”

In many school management platforms, administrators naturally recommend tools they trust. However, these referrals often happen informally, without any system to track performance, reward users, or measure impact.

This project reimagines the referral experience by turning it into a structured, gamified system that drives engagement, builds trust, and supports scalable growth.

Despite strong organic recommendations, the referral process lacked structure and visibility, limiting its potential as a growth driver.

No tracking system
Users had no way to know if their referrals were successful or even received.

❌ Lack of incentives
Without clear rewards, there was little motivation for users to actively refer others.

❌ No business visibility
The product team couldn’t measure referral performance or identify high-value users.

❌ Manual and inconsistent process
Referrals happened informally through channels like WhatsApp, making the experience unreliable and hard to scale.

Result: A high-potential growth channel remained underutilized due to lack of structure, trust, and motivation.

goals & outcomes

The goal was to design a structured referral system that transforms informal sharing into a consistent and engaging growth mechanism.

✅ Enable effortless sharing
Reduce friction by allowing users to share referrals in just a few taps through familiar platforms.

✅ Build trust through transparency
Provide clear visibility into referral status, progress, and reward eligibility.

✅ Motivate through rewards & gamification
Introduce incentives, milestones, and progress indicators to encourage repeated engagement.

✅ Provide actionable tracking & insights
Allow both users and the business to monitor referral performance and outcomes effectively.

Outcome Vision: A seamless and motivating referral experience that encourages users to actively contribute to product growth.
